AISMA’S LABOUR DAY GREETINGS
May Day (also known as International Workers' Day) is a celebration of the international labour movement . International Workers' Day is the commemoration of the 1886 Haymarket Massacre in Chicago, unleashed on workers during a general strike demanding Eight Hours Work Per Day, killing several demonstrators. The first May Day celebration in India was organised in Madras i.e. present Chennai, by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan on May 1, 1923.
May Day has become an international celebration of the social and economic achievements of the labour movement, However, in recent years, the celebration of this day has taken a new turn, where the workers and trade unions demand to safeguard their interests and give the economic reforms a humane face - This is History rather PAST.
May 1, 2011- The PRESENT, let’s commence This day with fervent steadfastness for the 130th day mega event IAS (International Acclamation Strike) and transform 8th September, into an unbreakable record. 1974 - the All India Strike; 1997 - the Station Masters Strike; but 2011- 8th September should become an Internationally Acclaimed Labour Agitation. I don’t know the meaning for the word ‘exaggeration’; but, I know only the STAION MASTERS. I am a firm believer on the “I CAN” Station Masters. Yes! WE CAN…….Always and in All Ways.
Might is POWER. Let’s not deliberate on the legitimacy etc. Strength is Legal; Unity is Rule. So, all our concern is Strength and Unity; it is just simply - conviction through convincing. For this convincing exercise, we have a phased programme, i.e., Individual SM’s consent Signature Campaign-26/6 and a Divisional Fasting-21/7, to formulate and strengthen the action programme, in the name of 24Hrs FAST and Duty SMs’ participation.
STRIKE- certainly has become an untouchable word in the present scenario; we too know. But, "It's not a question of willingness, it's a requirement”. Let the Government Consider the alternative. For the 1997 injustice by the CPO’s by rejecting our Minimum Grade Pay of Rs.5000-8000, 2006 rebuff of justice, by the Justice Sri Krishna, now the Railway Ministry has realized the importance of this The Cardinal Cadre; but the Finance Ministry is dilly-dallying. We don’t want to compare with the approvals of this Finance Ministry for the other cadre and other instances, though we are well aware, We are concerned and concentrating only on the Cadre of SMs.
The countdown for the 8th September 2011 has commenced on this 1st May 2011, mighty LABOUR DAY. Count down has been initiated - Just 130 days away for an International Acclamation. Hence, this year, this day is very important for the STATION MASTERS, yes! SMs for IAS.
