Inquiry into derailment of K-37 Down suburban local train

The statutory inquiry by Shri Sudhir Kumar, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Central Circle, Mumbai (Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India) into the derailment of K-37 Down suburban Local Train due to collapse of 40 m concrete girder of under construction ROB of Thane Municipal Corporation between Mulund and Thane stations at Kms. 31/14 on electrified BG double line of Mumbai CST-Kalyan section of Mumbai Division of Central Railway on 23.10.2009 at about 10.45 hours has revealed that the accident had occurred due to collapse of 40 m concrete girder of under construction ROB of Thane Municipal Corporation.
As a result of the accident 02 persons died, 04 persons were injured grievously and 08 received simple injury.
The Commissioner has sent his preliminary report for the consideration of the Central Government.
