NEWS: Nine persons were killed and 100 others injured when a speeding passenger train rammed into a stationary train here, about 90 km from Chennai, derailing five coaches last night (13.09.2011)
The Chennai Beach-Vellore Cantonment Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU) train crashed into the Arakkonam-Katpadi Passenger (56007) from behind as it was waiting for signal at Chitheri Railway Station around 9.40 pm.
A spokesman of the Railway Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that the death toll from Tuesday night's train mishap in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu, was nine, and the number of injured was 72.
Nine, include the Guard of the Arakkonam-Katpadi Passenger (56007), Mr.Girish Kumar SM Walajah Road (WJR)/SR and Shunting Jamedhar/AJJ.
FACT: Mr.Girish Kumar SM Walajah Road (WJR)/SR (Stn Rly. phone No is 41789), was travelling in the ill-fated 56007 Pass., he died on the spot. His only son's first birth day was on 15th Sep (Thursday). He had invited many of us. He came to Arakkonam for purchasing some items for Thursday Birth day party. I purchased 1 cloth for his son. Now I don't know how to face his wife. He is a native of DARBHANGA (Bihar).
