Sir,

        The view of 6th PC that SMs' cadre are fed by promotions from feeder cadre like Swithcmen do not hold water.

The SWMs are already in 4500 Grade and therefore promotions should be to a higher grade of pay. Moreover SMs' nature of duties are supervisory and not merely clerical. Take for example of the Junior Engineers of electrical or Signal or TC or Mechanical or P.Way. They are supervisory. There the JE/Gr II is in 5000 Scale. It is also a promotion cadre for MCMs in 4500 grade. Then why this disparity for SMs alone? Just because we are more in number, avenues cannot be nullified. We have to appraise the situation before the proper forums. Now that a Panel has been constituted consisting of Rly Board Member also, we can effectively place our grievances before them. If we fail to do so, we will just miss the Bus; that's all.
