Shri E. Ahammed - Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways


Shri Ahamed, National President, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), was to 15th Lok Sabha on his 6th term from Malappuram constituency in Kerala. He was elected to Lok Sabha earlier in 1991, 1996, 1998, 1998 and 2004. Born on 29th April 1938 in Kerala, Shri Ahamed has obtained degrees of B.A and B.L. from Govt. Brennen College, Tellichery and Govt. Law College, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala). He earlier held the Minister of State portfolio in Ministry of External Affairs in the previous UPA Government. During his long parliamentary career, he was member of various important parliamentary committees and held several social, political and government posts. He led Indian Government delegations to various countries especially in Middle East and South East Asia including first ever high-level Indian delegation to Arab League Summit during previous UPA Government.

In August – September 2004, Shri Ahamed’s timely and wisely intervention in getting release of three Indian hostages from the clutches of a group of militants in Iraq bringing all the six hostages back home safely was highly appreciated by one and all. He also made significant efforts in pursuing Saudi authorities to increase the Haj quota for Indians from 72000 to 123000 apart from 47000 handled by Private Tour Operators, thus giving an opportunity to a large section of the Muslim community to perform the sacred duty of Haj

 

Shri K.H. Muniappa - Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways


Shri Muniyappa was to 15th Lok Sabha on his 6th term from Kolar constituency in Karnataka. He was elected to Lok Sabha earlier in 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2004. Born on 7th March 1948 in Karnataka, Shri Muniyappa has obtained degrees of B.A and LLB from Bangalore University, Karnataka. He earlier held the Minister of State portfolio in the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways in the previous UPA Government at the centre.

During his long parliamentary career, he was member of various important parliamentary committees and held several social, political and government posts. He was member of Committee on Industry; member of Consultative Committee of Ministry of Welfare; member of Consultative Committee of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Special Invitee to Consultative Committee of Ministry of Steel and Mines.

Since 1969, Shri Muniyappa has been holding the post of Vice Convenor, Congress (I) Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Cell, Distt. Kolar, Karnataka. He was also the member of Indian Parliamentary delegation led by the Lok Sabha Speaker Shri G.M.C.Balayogi to Russia in 1998.
