The Central Council of our Association will meet at BANGALORE on 2nd and 3rd October 2009. All the CEC Members, GSs, GSFs, DSs and DSFs must attend without fail.
The importance of this Central Council is to analyse the activities of the Association and to decide the future course of action. The purpose of the Central Council is to report on the activities, achievement, and solution for the pending issues as well to evolve new demands suiting to the existing situation. This Central Council meeting is spread over 2 days, including a Brainstorming session. Brainstorming is a group creativity technique designed to generate a large number of ideas to solve problems on hand. It is proposed to evolve new ideas, understand our failures and to march forward with new vigour. The achievements of any organization are the results of the combined effort of hard bargaining, conducting agitations, senstising demands etc., Many times the creative ideas, too are the reasons for the achievement.
All organizations are essentially made of individuals. Success hugely depends on the success of such individuals. The strength of the team is each individual member...the strength of each member is the team. That is the reason our Central President visualized for 25000 members. No sooner this 48th executive took over charge in Patna we pledge to work as a TEAM under the captaincy of Com.P.K.Das our CP and SG will be the coordinator of this team and hereafter our’s will not be a Secretary oriented rather it will be in a Team module. It is still reiterated the Achievements, Failures, Solutions and Derivation - all depend on the ability of the team.
On the organisational front, we visualize movements in all the Zones, either in shift or snail. You must be a team player whether at Central Level, Zonal Level, Divisional level or Branch level. A team player is one who subordinates personal aspirations and works in a coordinated effort with other members of a group, or team, in striving for a common goal. Our Association often go to the effort of coordinating team building events in an attempt to get members to work as a team rather than as individuals.
There is no "I" in "TEAMWORK". Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision, the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common man to attain uncommon results.
This does not mean that the individual is no longer important; however, it does mean that effective and efficient teamwork goes beyond individual accomplishments. The most effective teamwork is produced when all the individuals involved harmonize their contributions and work towards a common goal. Virtually no one leads all of the time. Leaders also function as followers; everyone spends a portion of their day following and another portion leading.
We, firmly believe in collective bargaining. collective bargaining is this method whereby we organize together to meet, converse, and negotiate upon the work conditions with their Employers/Management/Supervisor with the setting forth the wages, hours, and other working conditions to be observed. If the bargaining results to our satisfaction, WE compromise; if not we get perturb; which leads to confrontation and culminates in agitation.
After the chain of actions and agitations such as the Mass Rally in NDLS, the DEMO, SAFETY WEEK, PROTEST WEEK, Post Card Campaign, Memorandum to MPs etc ., we still continue to proceed with the Trade Union activities and even this team is authorized to decide any Direct Action.
On the other side we negotiate with the Railway Board, at the Apex level; Some of the tangible progress are -The Railway Board has approved Rs 4800 GP for SMRs in Rs 7450 Pre Revised Scale and 15 % Gazetted –All COMs are directed to do improvement in the service condition of SMs -Centralized Head Quarters is under active consideration –Merging of cadres under Multi skilling -Revision of Uniform to Lady SMs –the Priority committee is examining Rs.4200 the Grade Pay for ASM.
It could be possible because of the flexibility. Flexible leadership, however, involves being able to adapt the leadership style according to the situation and the state of the team. Even Conflict is inevitable in a team ... in fact, to achieve synergistic solutions, a variety of ideas and approaches are needed.
Teamwork represents a set of values that encourage behaviors such as listening and constructively responding to points of view expressed by others, giving others the benefit of the doubt, providing support to those who need it, and recognizing the interests and achievements of others. The purpose of assembling a team is to accomplish bigger goals. The aim and purpose is to perform, get results and achieve victory.
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success. Attend the Central Council and reflect the reflection with Time management. Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. See You in Bangalore.
