Dear Comrades and Teammates !
MS.MAMTA BANERJEE, sworn in as Cabinet Minister for Railways on 22nd May 2009 in the 15th Parliament with the note “I would like to bring out the humane face of the Railways. We look forward with the positive note that she will understand the ground reality of the Railway men in general and Station Masters / Station Mangers in particular. We assure to execute the plans as well her desire to bring out the humane face of the Railways, earnestly from the floor level for writing the success story for our Indian Railways.
Today the trade unions are at the cross-roads. Their Membership is declining, their political support is waning and public sympathy is receding. Management is on the offence, compelled to the changing circumstance viz., Liberalisation, downsizing, competition, restructuring and privatization. The relevance of Trade Unions in future will depend upon: their ability to surmount structural, economic and social changes and their ability to accommodate changes in the social attitude without totally compromising their collective character.
On the contrary, WE, because of the increased maturity, responsiveness, realistic thinking and action as well the gradual realization on the part of SMs, who are young and well-educated, that independents Associations are more advantageous than the federations, our Membership is increasing, our cadre strength is adding. Still we have to go a long way to satisfy ourselves.
The answer to the overwhelming response and increased strength of our Association is not far to seek. It is all about the remarkable and unshakable faith you have reposed in us. The success story is a saga of dedicated and meticulous attention to Members in all their dimensions. As per the Objectives and functions of Trade Union -We influence the management on Human resources management policies and procedures, to represent the individual and collective grievances of SMs to the Management, we encourage workers participation in Management and we never failed to balance our activities such as Industrial Actions viz., Post Card Campaigns, Demonstrations, Strike etc to press the demands.
I optimistically hope that the CEC Members and General Secretaries across the country will take stock of the past years and work tirelessly towards the operational freedom, strengthen our Association and also collectively put the Association first in all endeavors with a sense of commitment to building a stronger AISMA.
Our next CEC Meeting will held at Bhubaneswar (BBS) ECoR on 28th JUNE 2009, from 10.00 Hrs to 20.00 Hrs. (10.00 to 14.00 will be open session and 15.00 to 20.00 hrs closed session for CEC Members) All the CEC Members are requested to plan their return journey in such a way to leave BBS late night.
All the General Secretaries are requested to bring their written report of their Zone along with the Membership list for the year 2008 and 2009 and as well the Plan of Action for pending Demand. Please remit the Membership Quota and Special Fund of Rs.500 per SM as well the Running Allowance Case Fund.
We solicit your suggestions and response at johnaisma@gmail.com / balusm_vm@yahoo.co.in or to our camp.
With Greetings & Good Wishes.
