FM BLOCK INSTRUMENTS –
PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INDICATIONS FOR OPERATIONAL CONVENIENCE

The notorious and ‘strain-full’ block instruments - FM type ones - are provided with two additional illuminated indications: SNR and ‘TURN’ – not here, but in TVC division. This facilitates easy operation of the instrument and one need not keep on using his entire force to operate the instrument. That was done in TVC when there was an S & T Officer with a human approach to the SMs. Why not make the same facility in this division also, especially on the twin single line section where the SMs are destined to operate 4 instruments at each station? Will this be done? Doubtful is the matter as the S & T Officials here are of the opinion that the indications provided in TVC are not ‘authorized’. Of course, that’s true as per BWM. But why not do some thing that will ease the strain of the SMs in operating them? When it is for their convenience, any indication can be provided anywhere! See the LSSR indications on the RRI panels which are also unauthorized, against BWM provisions, and directed to be removed by CRS and CSO. No action is taken to remove the same because that is a means for ensuring lesser failures. Okay, then why not these SNR and ‘TURN’ indications be provided? We demand to do this at once. Same is the case of providing starter switches for the DG sets at stations instead of the primitive ‘rope trick’ used to start them.
