How to conduct Association Activities?
- by Com. M. Ramani, Ex. SG/AISMA (Cell: 094432 30913)
All India Station Masters' Association is an independent Association of the cadre of Station Masters. The structure of our organization is as given under. As you know our country is almost a continent and stretches from Jammu and Kashmir to Tamilnadu and Kerala. The basic unit of our Association is the Branch Committee. It is good to have branch committees based at big stations. Then we have Divisional Committees. Since IR has 68 Divisions, we must have the same number of Divisional Committees. Above the Divisional Committees are the Zonal Committees. There are 17 Zones now on the IR. The last formed Zone is the Kolkata Metro Railway. Above all these is the All India Committee on the National level.
The main Office Bearers of each Committee are the President, Vice President(s), Secretary, Joint & Deputy Secretaries and Secretary (Finance). We have the post of Internal Auditor to check and scrutinize each Income and Expenditure. It is good that Branch Committees are held monthly. But, in an emergency, Committees can be convened any time. Ours functioning is truly democratic. Monthly subscription at the rate of `100.00 is collected. I have seen in Southern Railway our members are paying the Subscriptions in advance as one installment. Good members must be like that. Our custodian of money is the Secretary (Finance). We have given utmost honesty and transparency in our finance matters.
It is also advisable that each Branch Committee has its own bank account. It is sometimes seen that some permanent faces are seen in our programs. It is not good. Encourage other members also to attend our programs. Our duty roster may not allow for this. But those members can attend some other programs. Though I am now out of the Railways, I still try to be part of this Association despite my ill-health. The newly recruited members of this cadre are not strange to me. I see them as my younger brothers and sisters. But do not rest until you get your rightful dues from the Railway Administration!
