Portrait of a Station Master
Amidst the machines, wires and telephones
You work, receiving and sending trains from all zones,
Amidst the dink, noise and cacophony of sounds
You work, helping people within and without your bounds.
That clean white uniform and those colorful flags
Are your emblems, serving as purity and dignity tags.
The smiling face, the helping hand and the listening ear
Are your instruments, with which you work without any fear.
Poverty and prosperity rub shoulders in your place
You treat both riches and rags with the same grace.
Gloomy souls and bloomy minds approach you simultaneously
Your words and deeds soothe the gloom and enhance the bloom instantaneously.
Service is your way of life and safety your motto
Those thousand unrendered thanks of happy passengers are yours in toto.
Your touch is always gentle and grip always strong
You always guide men and trains without going wrong.
‘O’ Station Master, Railways is proud of you,
Your yeoman service to it, should always enhance that pride.
‘O’ Station Master, please receive my salutations too.
May, the Almighty make your life a happy and joyous train ride.
